The Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM) overview course workshop has been developed to improve your understanding of hazardous materials management, aid you in performing your job duties and responsibilities in the future, and assist in better preparing you for the national certification examination. The material being presented is the ACHMM's National Overview Course.

The CHMM Program has four principal objectives: (1) provide credential recognition to professionals having required level of education, experience, and competence, (2) foster continued professional development, (3) facilitate transfer of knowledge and experience, and (4) provide government, industry, and academia with a mechanism for identifying hazardous materials management professionals who fulfill requirements for certification.

The CHMM program is accredited by the Council of Engineering and Scientific Specialty Boards (CESB), an independent, voluntary organization that recognizes, through specialty certification, the expertise of individuals practicing in engineering and related fields. This course provides instruction on laws and regulations, technologies and practices in an overview fashion that highlights and emphasizes what is important for a hazardous materials manager to know and provides essential information for the manager to effectively pursue a broad spectrum of job responsibilities.

Important

The CHMM Certification Examination will be administered by Johns Hopkins personnel on Friday, March 26th, 2004. In order to sit for the exam, application must be made to the Institute of Hazardous Materials Management at least six weeks prior to the exam date.
